Six HP Panchayati Raj institutions to receive national award

Six Panchayati Raj Institutions of Himachal Pradesh have been selected for the Panchayat Empowerment and Accountability Incentive Scheme (PEAIS) National Award for the year 2012-13. Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj has made the selection for the award.

Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister, Anil Sharma said that 40 lakh rupess will be given to Zila Parishad Kullu, 20 lakh rupees each to Panchayat Samiti Kotkhai Shimla and Panchayat Samiti Hamirpur as award money under the scheme.

Besides it Gram Panchayat Sari, Development Block, Jubbal-Kotkhai district Shimla and Gram Panchayat Jassai, Development Block, Nadaun, District Hamirpur would be given Five Lakh rupees each.

Sh. Sharma said that Gram Panchayat Hatkot of Development Block, Kunihar, District Solan had been selected as Best Gram Sabha for award of Rs. 10 lacs.

Awardee Panchayats would be honoured on the National Panchayati Raj Day on 24th April, at Vigyan Bhawan in national capital New Delhi.
