Govt proposes to set up 4 new RIEs in Bihar, Andhra, Maharashtra & Chandigarh

The Government has proposed to set up four new Regional Institutes of Education (RIEs) in Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Chandigarh. Giving the information in a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Dr Shashi Tharoor said, the state Governments have been asked to provide 50 acres of land free of cost for setting up of these RIEs.

He said Bihar has offered 25 acres of land for free of cost in Muzaffarpur district while Andhra Pradesh has identified land but formal proposal is awaited. The Minister said, Chandigarh expressed inability to allot land free of cost while Maharastra is yet to initiate the proposal.
