Punjab orders closure of 473 schools for not implementing RTE provisions

The Punjab Government has ordered the closure of 473 schools for not having implemented provisions of the Right To Education Act (RTE),2009. Punjab Education Minister Sikander Singh Maluka said in Chandigarh that these schools were not following the norms of RTE Act and had not got affiliation under the Act. 

He said, all about 38,000 students of these schools may get admissions in nearby government schools. The Minister said, any school which disobeys the order will be fined.
