Bhiwani, Mahendragarh districts of Haryana & Bharatpur of Rajasthan now part of expanded NCR

The NCR Planning Board has approved the inclusion of Bhiwani and Mahendragarh districts of Haryana and Bharatpur district of Rajasthan in the National Capital Region. The decision was taken at the NCR Planning Board which met in New Delhi, under the chairmanship of the Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath. The Rajasthan Government's request for identification of Jaipur as Counter Magnet Area has also been approved.

The NCR Planning Board also approved the Sub-Regional plan for the UP sub-region. Breifing newsmen Mr. Kamalnath said, the board has also recommended setting up of the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) for implementation of the Rapid Road Transit Sytem which in Phase-I will connect Delhi-Panipat (111 km), Delhi-Alwar (180 km) and Delhi-Meerut (90 km). He said, the matter will now be taken up by the Cabinet shortly. The work on the three corridors would start soon and would be completed by 2016. He also said the NCR Regional Plan 2021 has been reviewed and the Draft Revised Regional Plan 2021 prepared by the NCRPB has been approved for inviting objections and suggestions from the public.

The meeting was also attended by the Union Minister for Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Ms. Girija Vyas, the Chief Minister of Delhi Ms. Shiela Dixit, the Chief Minister of Haryana, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Lt. Governor of Delhi, Tejender Khanna and Secretary Urban Development, Sudhir Krishna.
