The Law Commission of India has extended the last date for receiving suggestions on electoral reforms from June 30 to July 31 this year.

An official release said, the issue of electoral reforms has been referred to the Commission by the Center to bring comprehensive changes in laws related to elections.

In this effect, the commission has prepared a Consultation Paper seeking suggestions across different strata of the society including the political parties, civil society and stakeholders.

The Commission proposes to focus largely on issues including eligibility of the election candidates,transparency and accountability by the political parties, regulation of ethical code of conduct and also the issue of paid news .
